Ruby Engineer

New York, NY Full-time

SimpleReach is seeking a Ruby engineer to help build and maintain our API layer. We process upwards of a billion requests per day through our content measurement platform, passing reports and insights back to our customers to help them understand their content performance. We’re looking for a skilled developer who is collaborative and organized, loves solving complicated problems, and is always open to learning new technologies.

We are small and growing, so your contributions will be front and center. We are doing interesting things with content measurement and large volumes of analytics data and providing complex interfaces for this back to our users.

Some things you’ll be doing:

  • Although you’ll be focused on the Ruby on Rails stack that powers our API layer, you will also be working on the front end (Ember.js, Sass) and free to delve into the data collection and management layer (Python, Go, Vertica, Cassandra) depending on your experience and interest.
  • Partnering with other engineers, product managers, and designers to help plan, design, and develop new features on our content data platform.
  • Staying current on technology trends that intersect our business by participating in conferences, meetups, and hack days.
  • Responding to operational issues. We don’t just build things, we keep them running.

We want to talk to you if you:

  • Are an engineer with 2-3+ years of hands on professional Ruby (2.3.4) experience and Rails 4.2.9/5. ActiveRecord and RSpec are a plus.
  • Are experienced with relational (PostreSQL preferred) and NoSQL (MongoDB preferred) databases and understand database indexing and SQL tuning.
  • Have working proficiency with JavaScript.
  • Understand RESTful architecture and principals. You’ve built or maintained production APIs.
  • Are comfortable with GitHub pull requests
  • Are conversant in some front end technologies, preferably Sass and Ember - but experience with other frameworks is a plus as well.
